Taking A Proactive Approach For Healthy Muscles & Joints
Stretching has never been an activity people look forward to or even consider necessary for optimal performance on a daily basis. The act of stretching can be difficult, frustrating, agonizing, painful, confusing and many times boring. Many of us, myself included have done or many still do the bare minimum in order to avoid a catastrophic injury; the irony is, a bunch of small micro tears lead to the injury over time. Injuries do not statistically appear after just 1, 2 or 3 incidence of a hyper-extended or stressed muscle. There is a plethora of awareness education that hyper-focuses on weight loss, proper diet, vigorous exercise, sleep and hydration. Furthermore, those same professionals swear the information they are disseminating are the hallmarks to living a healthy lifestyle. So, static & dynamic stretching takes a back seat to most wellness initiatives because it is perceived as “not important.” If exercise, diet, sleep and hydration are more important than stretching, then why is there a record number of hard working Americans seeking doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists and surgeons to address their musculoskeletal problems? Answer, we sit too much.
Conclusive meta-analysis & experimental based evidence suggests that joint & muscle stiffness is a growing concern that impacts millions in America. As a healthcare professional I have helped many people to their doctor appointments, physical therapy sessions, surgeries, post-hospital rehabilitation care, dialysis sessions & many other forms of post-procedural rehabilitation doctor prescribed programs. Not only have I taken patients to these appointments, as a 4.5 year Stretch Therapy Trainer in Dallas I have also had the pleasure working with these people at their recovery phase or growth phase post-surgery or debilitating injury. Unfortunately, most practitioners only “strongly suggest” but do not teach foam rolling, stretching, Qi Gong, Tai Chi or even deep breathing meditation that have been proven to speed up the healing cycle.
Many well meaning therapist and doctors are doing the bare minimum for those that seeking a quality program for sustained solutions for injury prone muscles & joints. Those therapists or doctors are talking about but not teaching about the the importance of combining foam rolling, stretching, self-massage and deep meditation focused breathing. They are unaware that they can all be integrated in the same session. They typically suggest to their patient or client that “foam rolling works and strongly suggest they begin a stretching program.” The most important focus lost in the communication between a patient and a practitioner is simply, the necessity to begin a recovery session by cleaning up the diet so they can easily transition to a true relaxation state. Additionally, many people are not told that an effective stretching & foam rolling routine needs to utilize methods in “Deep Mind-Body Focused Meditative Controlled Breathing Techniques.”
Stretch Therapy Proactive Approach Saves Lives
Although the communication & planned approach to a therapeutic foam rolling and stretching routine is inadequate, The benefits of foam rolling & stretching are well established. Most doctors, physical therapists, Chiropractors and Wellness professionals agree that foam rolling is safe & effective at improving overall quality of life. Once that concept is revealed then integrated most individuals find that the“ Foam Rolling Stretch Therapy” solution is the answer to their problem.
